Greetings,
It is time once again for the Dixie Power Kite Festival! We are excited to be holding the 26th Annual Kite Festival on the campus of Utah Tech University. We are so grateful to the University for its partnership with us. The Dixie Power Kite Festival is an opportunity, once per year, to stress the importance of literacy to the youth of Washington County, all while providing a fun, family-oriented event for all to enjoy.

Children take home reading charts, and if they keep up their reading—as signed off by their parents—the day of the festival, they will turn in these reading charts and receive a reward for their hard work. Again, this year, we will have multiple prizes to choose from, similar to previous years. Whether the children decide to get a kite to fly the day of the event, tickets to the bounce houses, or even a book, they will be well rewarded for having completed their reading.

While any excuse is a good excuse to enjoy St. George in the springtime, the Kite Festival provides a unique opportunity to raise funds for our local Washington County School District Foundation. These desperately needed funds will be used for literacy initiatives throughout the county and will make a real impact on the lives of the teachers and students in our communities. Since its inception, the Dixie Power Kite Festival has donated over $700,000 to the Washington County School District Foundation! It is absolutely amazing, to say the least, and should be celebrated by our community.

This event simply wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our Planning Committee and the hundreds of volunteers that work to make this event such a great success each year. These dedicated volunteers spend their free time planning, plotting, eating, and drinking all things Kite Festival! We thank each of them for their volunteerism for this event!

We couldn’t hold an event such as this without our sponsors. We have absolutely the best sponsors you could ask for, and we are so grateful for their donations, both in cash and services, for the event. A BIG THANK YOU to our wonderful sponsors!

In addition to our individual sponsors, we have the tireless work of our title sponsor of the event—Dixie Power. Each year Dixie Power provides thousands of dollars in funding and manpower both for the days surrounding the event as well as throughout the whole school year. It is no stretch of the imagination to say that, without Dixie Power, this event would not be the event that it is today. We are so grateful for all that they do to make the Kite Festival such a success each year. A HUGE THANK YOU to Dixie Power!
We hope to see you at the 25
